In each of my kids’ rooms, I have framed a little write-up of the meanings and history behind their names. I used simple frames from IKEA, and customized them by creating a second matte within the white one, complimenting the decor of their rooms. For my daughter’s room, which is various shades of pink (a powder pink on 3 walls and a darker dusty pink on the back feature wall) with a hint of lime green, I bordered the text with navy blue and brown ribbon. The matte is scrapbook paper: black velvet damask on a pink background, and this pink background incorporates the same powder and dusty pinks found in her room and it has lime green undertones. Because the pattern is in velvet, you can see that the paper has some depth to it.
Supplies:
- “Ribba” frame, IKEA, 30x40cm as seen here: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40101040/
- Scrapbook paper from Omer de Serres (you can also get this kind of paper from Michael’s)
- Ribbon
- Glue – you can use a glue stick but I used rubber cement to make sure there would be no wrinkles or bubbles
- I printed the text on parchment style paper, which can be found at an office supply store
